- Explain the intervention components, timelines, materials, and structure of the Brief Coping Cat, CBITS, and MATCH-ADTC interventions.
- Identify how intervention knowledge may be applied to an example and their local school context.

Evidence-Based Counseling Techniques
This training introduces participants to three evidence-based counseling techniques: Motivational Interviewing (MI), Positive Psychology (e.g., Well-Being Promotion Program), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Each counseling technique is designed to build students’ resilience, autonomy, and positive self-image. Participants will learn actionable skills to use in individual and group settings, focusing on student-centered mental well-being that moves beyond diagnosis toward student motivation and personal growth. Participants will explore the theories behind each framework and receive practical guidelines for implementing each approach effectively in diverse educational settings
View Objectives
- Identify examples and non-examples of Motivational Interviewing (MI) questions/statements using the O.A.R.S. framework.
- Explain core positive psychology frameworks including: the dual-factor model of mental health, the three pillars of positive psychology, and the three components of subjective well-being
- Describe the seven key principles of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and explain how SFBT differs from traditional therapeutic techniques

Individualized Behavioral Interventions
This training will enhance participants capacity to create effective behavior plans and implement three evidence-based, individualized behavioral interventions: Check and Connect, Check-In/Check-Out, and Modified Check-In/Check-Out. Each intervention is unique and benefits students in need of support for varying reasons. This training will include interactive videos, discussions, and activities. This training will also allow participants to make connections to current or past experiences, outline the necessary components of each intervention, illustrate realistic examples, and provide opportunities to practice and plan for implementation.
View Objectives
- Describe how to create an effective behavior plan in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions.
- Describe the theoretical frameworks guiding and supporting research for individualized behavioral interventions.
- Explain the intervention components, timelines, materials, and structure of the Check and Connect, Check-In/Check-Out, and Modified Check-In/Check-Out interventions.
- Identify how intervention knowledge may be applied to an example and their local school context.

Classwide Emotional and Behavioral Interventions
This comprehensive training will introduce participants to three empirically-based class-wide interventions that support students’ relaxation, encourage prosocial behavior, and reduce test anxiety. Participants will learn the theoretical and research basis behind each intervention, instructions for implementation, and reflect on possible applications to their own classroom/school setting.
View Objectives
- Identify interventions for test anxiety.
- Describe examples of test anxiety interventions for each of the three tiers (e.g. the SAFMEDS Strategy, Attribution Training, CBT- Stop, Drop, and Roll).
- List four types of research-based relaxation (mindfulness, PMR, imagery-based, and yoga/movement)
- Describe how relaxation can be taught to children.
- Explain the key aspects of the Good Behavior Game (GBG): Main activities, assessment, and final steps.
